Inspection without connection: how VIEWAPP enables inspections where there is no internet

An inspection can take place where stable connection is unavailable or works intermittently. Inspections without stable connection happen for every client, especially when the object is hard to reach: mountainous terrain, a remote country plot, an industrial site, a basement, or an underground parking garage. That is why almost every negotiation includes the question, "How do we perform an inspection if there is no internet there?"

Why connection can be a weak point

If an inspection requires a constant connection, the absence of a network can break it in several places at once. The form does not open, photos do not upload, and the performer returns to work that has already been done. The workaround usually looks like this: images remain in the gallery, notes go into a messenger, and then all of it is manually assembled into a report. At this stage, data is lost, and the origin of the photos can no longer be confirmed.

How inspection without connection works in VIEWAPP

The process is divided into three parts.

1. Preparation when connection is available. The application is downloaded where there is internet. If the inspection is performed by the client, they receive an SMS with a download link, and the available inspection scenarios are loaded onto the device.

2. Inspection without internet. The performer goes through the digital inspection step by step: takes photos and videos with the application's camera and fills out the form. Geolocation does not depend on the internet, so the coordinates are recorded exactly at the place where the inspection was performed. Immediately after the shot, the application prompts if the frame is dark or blurry and suggests retaking it. This check also works without internet.

3. Data upload. As soon as internet appears on the device, the inspection is sent to the server. The reviewer receives an email notification that the inspection has been completed and is ready for review, and can immediately open it via the link.

The inspection follows a scenario that the administrator configured in advance: with stages, steps, mandatory photos, and form fields. The performer does not need to decide what and how to shoot, even if there is no connection.

What remains under control

The absence of connection does not create loopholes for substituting materials. You can only shoot with the application's camera; you cannot upload photos from the gallery into the inspection. This means every image was taken at the inspection site.

After upload, the materials go into the review interface. The reviewer sees who shot, when, and where, and makes a decision: accept the inspection, send it for redo, reject it, or pass it to a specialist with higher qualifications.

What should be taken into account during preparation

Before the inspection, it is useful to open the application when connection is available and make sure the required scenario has loaded. This is the only action that needs to be performed in advance.

Coordinates are taken from the phone's sensors, and their accuracy depends on the conditions: underground and inside massive structures it is lower than in open terrain. If your process requires binding inside the object, you can add a field to the form, for example a plot number, floor, or a mark on the route.

If the problem is not a complete absence of connection but a slow channel, the photo quality can be reduced in the scenario step. Then the files weigh less and upload faster.

Where this changes the process

For insurance companies, inspection without connection means that a visit or the insured's self-inspection of an incident in a basement or garage is still available. For appraisers, it allows inspecting remote objects without manually transferring data into a report. For banks whose collateral is far from the head office, it allows receiving an inspection from the client without sending an employee. The result is the same for everyone: the inspection does not depend on whether there is connection at the site.

Unstable internet should not be an obstacle to digital inspection. VIEWAPP preserves the verification process itself where connection is unavailable: the scenario, photos and videos, form data, and control of materials remain inside the application, and transmission to the server occurs after the connection is restored. Therefore, an inspection can be performed where previously the digital process had to be postponed or replaced with manual recording.
