VIEWAPP: VIN number recognition features
Digital expertise is not standing still — VIEWAPP continues to actively develop tools based on neural network technologies. One of the priority areas has been the expansion of the ‘neural network park,’ which helps speed up and simplify the work of experts when conducting inspections. A new step in this direction is the launch of a beta version of the automatic VIN number recognition function based on photographs.
Why is this necessary?
A car's VIN number is a unique identifier, and checking it is a mandatory step in virtually any car inspection. However, the quality of photographs varies: glare on the windscreen, worn engraving, poor focus. Experts often have to spend time manually decoding the symbols. This is where automation can help.
A new feature in VIEWAPP allows the neural network to find and recognise the VIN number in a photo by comparing it with the number specified in the inspection form. All characters found are highlighted, and the expert can immediately see how successful the match was. This simplifies and speeds up checks, especially when there is a large volume of inspections.
How it works
- If the VIN is available in the inspection form, the system analyses the images uploaded by the user.
- Recognised characters are highlighted in green, making them easy to see for quick assessment.
- The expert can immediately see if everything matches or focus on clarifying incomplete sections.
The feature is currently in beta testing. This means that in the current version, recognition accuracy may vary depending on shooting conditions. In some cases, expert involvement is still required — but this approach allows us to collect feedback and quickly develop the tool in the right direction.
Security and speed remain unchanged
Like all VIEWAPP platform modules, the feature operates in accordance with high information security standards. All images are processed strictly within the server perimeter, and no data is transferred to external services. The speed of inspection processing has also remained unchanged — the addition of the feature does not affect performance.

The VIN number recognition function is part of VIEWAPP's broader strategy to introduce intelligent tools into the inspection process. We are consistently adding modules that reduce the workload on experts, increase processing speed, and create a digital foundation for decision-making.
